Grungecore artist KNØTTZ has captured the attention of music enthusiasts with his cutting-edge sound that explores various genres,
including grunge, hardcore metal, and nu-metal. His music is deeply personal and reflective of his life experiences, including growing up in a rough environment in Phoenix, Arizona.
KNOTTZ's inspiration to pursue music came early in his childhood, starting with his love of writing songs and poetry at nine. Ultimately, his older brother's involvement in a local poetry group sparked his interest in writing, eventually leading to his passion for rapping and producing music.
“FUCKED UP” has KNØTTZ deliver the song and rush that Atari Teenage Riot has been teasing to release for years. This is a pure adrenaline rush. Rhythms are pushed far beyond any semblance of coherence. He screams at the absolute highest, with the vocals going for a high-pitched scree.
Synthesizers are tortured, mangled, and treated as their industrial noise aesthetic is what would happen if Autechre ever decided to try their hand with punk. Indeed, the punk aesthetic is quite strong as the lyricism loses control and seems to enjoy that feeling.
The assault begins from the first second as the squeal from the synthesizer becomes potent. When the beat and vocals enter, that’s it. No turning back; he goes further into the rush, with the many layers interacting unexpectedly. Beauty is non-existent as this is the ugly part of the party, where the participants no longer care, letting go and letting their worst impulses loose. From afar, listening to it, there is a degree of jealousy that this no fucks given vibe is something that most punks cannot pull off anywhere near effectively. Raw, barely filtered, or restrained noise hits the eardrums and refuses to let up. Things get increasingly absurd as the song
screams distinctly post-modernly, making everything utterly furious. Even the final moments seem to be when the vocalist only begins to gain a moment of self-reflection.
“FUCKED UP” has KNØTTZ capture the spirit of being truly wasted and not caring.
