Mulaa’s voice sounds savage and emotionally affecting on this no-nonsense power-punk track.
Big Boss Mulaa has shared his latest single, ‘I DON’T LIKE THIS,’ as he unleashes a storm on emo/pop/punk.
The singer/songwriter – originally from New York but now resides in LA – built up a hard-earned fanbase after first emerging online in 2019. Now a household name for many throughout the music scene, his emotionally charged, sad-boy pop songs have captivated hundreds of thousands of listeners.
Mulaa is noted for songs that delve into his personal experiences, real-life struggles, and wrestling with his emotional vulnerability. Mulaa’s voice is raw and unpretentious – much like his production style – allowing his lyrics about brokenness, adversity, and self-acceptance to be even more cutting.
Having released several albums, Mulaa’s newest songs might be his best work. ‘I DON’T LIKE THIS’ is an out-and-out banger with a powerful message. Over grungy guitars, propulsive drums, and deceptively simple riffs, Mulaa sings at the top of his lungs about how alienating it can feel to live the life you’re leading. He belts out the chorus, “I’m so confused/Guess I’m just broken and bruised/From all the things I thought I wouldn’t miss/You never told me life would be like this” with such raw emotion that you can’t help but bob your head forward in heartfelt agreement.
Speaking about the message he wants to bring through in his music, Mulaa says: “I just want to express everything I’ve felt and experienced, reflected in my music. Pain, love, and true-life experiences inspired me and my music. I want to clear a void for the depressed and broken – due to depression, anxiety, or other mental struggles – and let everyone understand it’s okay to be you through all the bad.”
He has much to say – and his music compels you to listen.
