With big melodic pop-rock hooks, a knack for some face-melting guitar-shredding, and a compelling, over-the-top live persona, Ariel Bellvalaire’s music is unlike anything you’ve ever heard – precisely what makes her so interesting.
Described as a “lead electric guitarist, singer, performer, and aerial gymnast,” Connecticut-born artist Ariel Bellvalaire has had an incredible artistic journey.
For those who want to know where it started, it’s perhaps helpful to look back on a quote she gave to CanvasRebel Magazine a few years ago, where she spoke about how she first got into making music. “I knew I wanted to be an artist the second the song ‘Complicated’ by Avril Lavigne came on the radio while I was on the balance beam in Gymnastics summer camp,” she said.
Having committed herself to being a performer from a young age, Ariel refused to limit herself to music or gymnastics because why would she? She was extremely talented when it came to both art forms.
But Bellvalaire’s career began to pick up steam in 2014. That year, she had her Broadway debut, playing the guitar on stage alongside Tony winners Lena Hall and Robin Dejesus, in the “Dearly Beloved: A Concert Tribute to Prince” show in New York City.
She had an apparent gift and – what’s more – a versatility rare to find in artists. Shortly after her performance on Broadway, Ariel moved to Los Angeles, where she worked hard to break ground in the brutal, unyielding entertainment industry. Ariel added several unusual strings to her artistic bow during this time. She was booked to play guitar in significant commercials, such as for GMC and KIA’s national 2016 campaign (where she appeared as the iconic electric guitar-playing hamster mascot). She was also the guitarist in a national commercial for Kentucky Fried Chicken alongside country star Reba McEntire.
Her guitar virtuosity has continued to gain traction at every turn. In recent years, she has headed off on some notable world tours as a guitarist (for Debbie Gibson, for Drag The Musical featuring Joey McIntyre and many of the contestants of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, and for other tours that took her all over the globe).
Now, Ariel is working on new original music featuring what she describes as “guitar-driven songs with catchy pop melodies.” Her first single, ‘Elastic,’ was an instant hit when shared in 2020, not least because it came alongside an iconic music video showcasing Bellvalaire doing gravity-defying aerial stunts while playing guitar. Since then, she has released several other singles, but 2024 will undoubtedly be her biggest year.
Fans can expect to hear Ariel Bellvalaire’s powerful voice, scorching guitar work, and inimitable rock-pop sound everywhere this year, with the artist having lined up a handful of singles to be dropped throughout the next 12 months. In addition, she has teased that her long-awaited debut album will be released in due course.
Keep an eye on her for the year ahead – and listen to her new single ‘Til the Clock Strikes’ when it gets released on March 22.
