KOTA!, a purveyor of grunge-rock and self-defined ‘girly pop’ music, is getting set to release her debut album and a series of new singles in the months ahead.
The artist, who hails from Albuquerque, NM, has already made waves throughout 2024, with the release of her singles ‘Killin’ It’ and ‘Dead Pretty’. Both tracks are quickfire grunge-rock numbers, with exciting elements of power-punk, electronica, and pop thrown into the mix.
As she puts together her comprehensive album, KOTA! has also teased the release of two new singles, titled ‘Under My Spell’ and ‘Eyes Wide Open.’ These singles will offer a taster of her evolving sound.
Although already an emerging talent for several years, KOTA! found herself on everyone’s radar at the start of 2024, as her music and aesthetic caught the attention of many.
For her own part, KOTA! has been working on both her style and her sound for a long time – chiseling it to perfection so that her fervent fanbase gets the best out of her music. Having started writing her first-ever songs a few months shy of Elementary School, and having learnt the ins and outs of the studio at nine years old, KOTA! has spent a large part of her life trying to work out what type of artist she wants to be.
During her teenage years, KOTA! explored a wide range of musical styles – attending the Hollywood Pop Academy even as she was joining DIY garage bands and performing small live gigs. She studied dance, wrote pop songs, and decided not to restrict herself in terms of the genres she listened to. This is why, when she talks about her influences, she’s able to list off the likes of Cyndi Lauper, The Offspring, Nirvana and The Cure – all in the same breath.
Over the past 15+ years, KOTA! has been considered a rising music star among her modest following (which has already multiplied in size since the start of this year). But those 15 years were necessary for helping KOTA! find a unique songwriting style that blended all the different elements of her music education together.
Now, she has a rock-pop fusion unlike any other. Her songs offer the rawness of sweaty rock gig, as well as the anthemic quality of a chart-topping pop hit; and the true glory of KOTA!’s music is that she doesn’t really sound like anyone else.
Currently sitting at an average of 12,000 streams per month, KOTA! will likely spend the next part of 2024 – and 2025 – breaking barriers and upping her numbers. Beyond that, as soon as people hear her music and start getting wind of her live persona, she’ll tack on plenty of diehard fans.
Watch KOTA! grow…
