Q: Tell us about your upcoming single “AMERICA (Secrets & Money)”?
Andii Styron: I have lived in a country that is in constant change. Perhaps this would be a good thing if the changes reflected the will of the people. For my entire life, I have seen that the direction taken is one that reflects that of an indifferent ruling class that is far removed from the suffering of the majority. My hope with the song is to show exactly what the effects of that disconnection are.
Q: Why did you pick the single’s release date of November 4th?
AS: I wanted it to coincide with the election, roughly at least. Technically it comes out a week before the election, and I think this one is a very important one. So, I hope that as people enter the voting booth, they will keep in mind all those people so often overlooked.
Q: Are there any musicians that you would cite as inspiration?
AS: A number of people claim that my voice resembles Alanis Morrissette and Jewel, which I take as very high praise indeed. Those two artists are incredible, so to be compared to them is very flattering. Both of those artists explored the journeys of individuals with the utmost care. I am honored to be placed alongside them.
