Question: What was the first group you ever joined? Raymond Revel: In elementary school, people called me “the piano kid” so I figured it was perhaps inevitable that I joined a band during that time. We were called “Indetention” and I was supposed to be the keyboard player – nothing else. The lead singer backed out before the first rehearsal and the band asked me to be the lead singer. I accepted. I think this ultimately changed how I viewed myself and music, sort of setting me on the path I am on now. Q: Did you ever work alongside other future musicians? RR: Unbeknownst to me, in high school I performed in the same show choir as Dove Cameron, Blake Lively, and Kelly Blatz. Q: Did you study music in college? RR: Funnily enough I studied Entrepreneurial Management at Texas Christian University. It may not seem directly related, but I have always had a strong emphasis on creating new sounds, and new groups, and honestly studying built off those pre-existing passions. While in college I did release my first EP “The Beginning” produced by Andrew Lane, an individual I’m still in contact with today. Q: While in college, besides your solo work, did you work with any other artists? RR: During that time, I was contacted multiple times to return to Los Angeles (I’m originally from Burbank) to sing background for Demi Lovato, Little Big Town, and Pharrell on NBC’s The Voice iHeart Radio’s Jingle Ball and The American Music Awards. Q: Outside of music, what else interests you? RR: I love traveling. So far, I’ve been fortunate enough to visited (and lived in) a number of states. I’ve traveled outside the US too. Hopefully with touring I’ll be able to visit a whole lot more!
