Barbie is ruling the box office, but when will it hit digital platforms? Here’s how to watch the movie from home and pre-order the Blu-ray.
The pink wave was stronger than anticipated as Barbie raked in over $1 billion at the box office, including a massive $155 million domestic hall during its opening weekend and $93 million in its second weekend.
The Greta Gerwig-directed film starring Margo Robbie and Ryan Gosling follows the beloved doll on a journey to the real world. Barbie secured the biggest opening of the year, sailing past The Super Mario Bros. Movie and making history as the biggest box office opening for a female director.
Barbie mania even helped push Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer to a whopping $80 million debut due in part to moviegoers opting for the “Barbenheimer” double feature.
When will the Barbie movie land on streaming platforms? Despite other Warner Bros. blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick taking a few months to land digitally, audiences won’t have to wait much longer before Barbie makes its digital debut. The Barbie movie will be released digitally on Sept. 5, according to Variety. That means you still have a time to pre-order the movie so that you can watch it online as soon as it drops. Barbie is available for pre-order on Prime Video ($24.99), iTunes and other streaming platforms.
In addition to the digital release, the Barbie movie Blu-ray and DVD are also available for pre-order at retailers such as Amazon, Walmart and Target.
