‘Fetty On Fetty’ hails from YungVV’s acclaimed debut mixtape, The V Tape, which heralds him as a powerful new voice in trap rap.
Rising artist YungVV has shared his new mixtape, The V Tape, as he positions himself for international stardom with six uniquely brilliant tracks.
The tape, released earlier in 2023, offers new and long-term fans a deep dive into VV’s unconventional creativity. The artist grew up in cities around New Jersey and has carved out a dedicated following since he first started dropping hard-hitting trap-rap songs in 2019 under VV$ Julz.
The online success of VV’s earliest songs led him to drop out of studying at Temple University so that he could pursue making music full-time. Since then, he’s worked relentlessly to put music into the world, dropping countless new tracks yearly and working with different producers and teams to diversify his sound.
YungVV’s tracks are brilliant but share a common approach of offering short blasts of hard-hitting production and laser-focused lyrics (never more than two or three minutes long).
YungVV’s vocals are essential to what makes him such an exciting artist. His voice has smoothness and grittiness, so his bars about real-world violence and the hustler’s mindset feel genuinely earned. The autotuning is also used sparingly, so we get blessed with the real impact of hearing VV’s voice in the flesh.

On The V Tape, YungVV has condensed everything he’s learned about the world into six piercing tunes. The music here isn’t for the faint-hearted – YungVV comes out all guns blazing on bass and synth-heavy opener ‘HIT,’ while he sets himself apart from his competition on songs like ‘Apes’ and ‘Hate Me Now.’ The songs dive into contrasting sides of YungVV’s personality – the watchful, confrontational rapper always looks over his shoulder at who might try to steal his crown. There’s the confident, courageous rapper who is happy to brag about how much wealth he has and the status he’s attained from his newfound stardom. The fact that VV can fit both visions into his artistry makes this debut EP so brilliant.
‘Fetty On Fetty (Outro)’ offers a scattered snapshot of YungVV as an artist who was “Dead broke” but who now “pops like confetti.” In many ways, this song is the perfect outro for the EP, as it points to the future and shows that YungVV only plans to continue rising as his career continues. He’s also at his most upbeat on this track; he focuses on building up those around him even as his star shines (“I got love for my team/I got love for the green.”)
It’s like he’s experiencing the taste of success and wants to add to it – adding Fetty on top of Fetty.
