Sol Jay’s Vivid Spectacle: ‘Can’t Stop (feat. Omoi)’ Transcends Reality with a Technicolor Dream

Sol Jay is a talented artist who has been creating beautiful Hip- Hop and R&B music for nearly a decade. Being raised in The San Fernando Valley, Sol Jay discovered his passion for music at 9. Despite being subject to a move to Utah at the age of 10, Sol Jay continued with his love and eventually got the tools to create music at 13, thanks to the help of Ableton Live.

His passion for music grew, leading to his first break in 2017 while attending high school. Since then, he has been experimenting with various styles of music, ranging from slow Trap-R&B to upbeat Hip-Hop and Dance. Since then, his music has gained immense popularity, with over 5 million streams across all platforms, captivating a diverse range of listeners worldwide. The intricate music production and performance have earned him a reputation as one of the best surface-breaking artists in the music scene. His works are characterized by a unique blend of different genres, and the result is often a sublime-sounding piece that evokes strong emotions in the listener.

Sol`s move back to LA in 2021 has only opened a whole new world of opportunities for him to grow as an artist and increase his fan base through networking with various key players in the music industry. His commitment to his craft is evident in the consistent release of quality music that has endeared him to music lovers worldwide.

The move back to LA inspired his new Drum & Bass filled album “fell in lust in LA,” with the release of the album’s Deluxe Version bringing a euphoric end to June. His single, “Can’t Stop (feat. Omoi),” was the introduction to his new self-titled subgenre “RnDnB,” which encapsulates the essence of R&B while following the upbeat drum style of Drum & Bass. Some have begun to compare Pink Pantheress’ music style to his new sound of RnDnB.

In the stunningly beautiful “Can’t Stop (feat. Omoi)” video, Sol Jay shows his love for jungle and rave culture. The color palette adds to this sensibility with neon hues and bright shades of his signature purple. He lets the sound and reflective stance perfectly sync with the visuals. Parts of the screen glitch up, fray, and reconfigure while retaining that initial view. Vocals prove essential, as he emotes with crystal clarity. Even his body movement adds to the mood within the piece. Arrangement-wise, he brings up notions of early trance and jungle, rebooting the genres.

Omoi stands with confidence, ready to face the nighttime that surrounds him. Up above, Sol Jay sits, watching downwards. The vibe of the setting feels domestic, like what happens after returning home from a party. This interpretation would explain his color scheme and general stances throughout the piece. Going for a comprehensive view of the expanse, he lets the lyrics gain a poetic beauty. The bubbling synthesizer adds to the sense of contemplation, with the melody having a nostalgic yearning ideally suited for the background and the percussive choices. When Omoi enters the fray, the faded view becomes fully palpable, as the colors transform into harsher, darker shades as the piece returns full circle to Sol Jay for the final stretch as the video gradually fades out in lo-fi style.

“Can’t Stop (feat. Omoi)” has this beautiful bent as Sol Jay’s visuals are a The distinctive mixture of the real and the imagined.
